| Hiking in Willmore Wilderness Park |
The first crossing of the Wildhay is 3 km from the trailhead and like all streams and rivers in Willmore, it doesn't have a bridge. Usually it's knee deep, cold but safe to cross. But if there's been a long period of rain, it can become impassible on foot and even by horse. After this crossing, there are several more stream crossings (Seep Creek, Carson Creek, Pope-Thoreau Creek, and the Wildhay at Eagle's Nest Pass). However, none are as deep or long as this one. The hikers are using hiking sticks and stream shoes to ensure a safe journey to the other side.
(show on map -- the crossing is on the first red dot indicating that there's a campsite just prior to the crossing)
