| Special Places 2000, an initiative of the Alberta Government's Round Table on the Environment and Economy, and a campaign promise made by Ralph Klein in his first election as Premier of the Province of Alberta, is the subject of this webpage.
The basic theme of Special Places 2000 is that to protect Alberta's many endangered species, it is necessary to set aside some portions of each of the 6 distinct geographical regions that characterize Alberta. Protecting "Places" is one [some would say the only] method of protecting Alberta's Endangered "Species". Unfortunately, most experts believe that the Alberta Government has failed to initiate the Special Places 2000 program. Below are a series of articles describing the extent of this failure. The two buttons below will take you to a deeper discussion of Alberta's Endangered Species and Alberta's Special Places and Unique Geography.
